General Information
New World School of the Arts is a center for excellence in the visual and performing arts. It provides a comprehensive educational program of artistic training, academic and creative development, and preparation for professional careers in the arts.
- The curriculum of the school is designed to develop both the academic and artistic skills of talented students to prepare them as practicing artists in the changing context of contemporary society.
- The instructional program provides a comprehensive high school education with full preparation for college admission.
- Independent study and experimental opportunities stimulating artistic problem solving and creative growth are encouraged throughout the curriculum, as well as studios, workshops, master classes, internships, residencies with arts companies, and collaborative cross-disciplinary student projects.
Talented students are educated in a humanistic and personalized atmosphere designed to achieve mastery of traditional artistic forms while stimulating creativity in the context of research and experimentation. Students are encouraged to explore the full range of their disciplines in a collaborative environment which meets the highest standards of academic and professional arts training.
Development of practical business skills related to the management of professional work in the arts is incorporated into the curriculum. Challenge is sustained in the learning process through individualization of curriculum.
Accreditation
New World School of the Arts is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Dance, National Association of Schools of Music, National Association of Schools of Theater, and National Association of Schools of Art and Design. All academic programs are approved by the Florida State Department of Education and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
New World School of the Arts confers the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music, the Associate in Arts, and the high school diploma through its institutional partners.
